Super Simple Sugar Scrub

  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Olive Oil
  • Resealable Container (mason jar works great)
  • Optional: Essential Oil
  • Optional: Additional Exfoliants such as oatmeal, tea leaves, etc.

This is one of the easiest sugar scrub recipes out there. Coconut and Olive oil are both fantastic for your skin. They lock in moisture and help maintain a healthy glow. You may sub them out for other oils if you don't have coconut and olive available. Sweet almond, sunflower, jojoba, and grapeseed are all great oil choices for sugar scrubs.

Most of us have granulated sugar at home. But you can absolutely use brown sugar and even sea salt instead. Careful when using sea salt as it may sting if it comes into contact with any cuts or other sensitive areas.

Honey Almond Brown Sugar Scrub

  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Organic Honey
  • 1 oz. Sweet Almond Oil
  • Essential Oils(optional)

Sounds delicious right? This simple brown sugar recipe is another easy DIY project. All you need is brown sugar, honey, and sweet almond oil. If you don't have sweet almond oil, you can swap that out for coconut, olive, or whatever oil you have on hand!

This recipe is great for those with sensitive skin. Each of the 3 ingredients are very mild and soothing. Feel free to make substitutions as needed. Ingredients for sugar scrubs are very flexible.

Coffee Sugar Scrub

Easy Coffee Scrub Recipe

  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Coffee Grounds
  • 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

Coffee scrubs are another classic style of sugar scrubs. This makes for a fantastic facial, and body scrub. You can make substitutions with this recipe as with a few caveats. First, the brown sugar helps this particular scrub keep its shape. If you use white sugar, you may end up with a softer, more liquid style scrub. Same thing will happen if you substitute out the coconut oil since it solidifies at such a low temperature (76 degrees). Any changes will still make a great scrub, but the consitincy will definitely be different so keep that in mind when swapping ingredients.

Simply take all your ingredients and throw them into a mixing bowl. Mix everything thoroughly and that's it! Simple right? The most important thing when making sugar scrubs how do you store them. If you want to keep your sugar scrubs for an extended period of time, you're going to want to keep them in a resealable jar. Use a spoon or some type of scoop when using your homemade sugar scrub. This will help keep water out of the container, extending the life of your scrub. These are natural products without chemicals and preservatives. Keeping the sugar scrub free from any outside materials is key.

Sugar scrubs are very flexible items. You can sub out oils and sugars to your heart's content. A couple notes though. Sugar is very mild on the skin. When using salt in place of sugar, keep the scrub away from any cuts or scrapes to avoid irritation. Coconut Oil is one of the best oils for your skin. When subbing out coconut oil use an oil that's "light" on the skin. Olive is a great choice, but sweet almond and jojoba are even better. Subbing coconut for one of these more liquid oils will thin out your sugar scrub. You may want to add less of the substituted oil if you're trying to maintain a certain consistency.
