Bath Bomb Recipes
Basic Bath Bomb
You Will Need:
- 1 cup citric acid
- 2 cups baking soda
- 20-30 drops of essential oil (highly dependent on strength of fragrance)
- food colorant
- small amount of water or witch hazel (to be used in a spray bottle)
Directions:
Firstly, mix together your citric acid and baking soda to a fine powder. If you have a sieve this is a good way of making sure they are thoroughly mixed. You can add you dry color pigment at the same time at this stage too.
Next add you essential oils, a little at a time until you get your desired strength.
The water is next. This can either be completely substituted with witch hazel or mixed in a spray bottle. Spray a little at a time but be quick so the mixture doe not start to fizz. Get to a consistency of wet sand, crumbly but will stick together when squashed.
Press is tightly into your moulds as firm as you can and leave for a few minutes. If you are using a two part clip together mould, slightly overfill and twist together rather than push. After about 3-4 hours, tap you new bath bomb out of the mould and leave to set for at least 48 hours out of direct sunlight.

White Tea Coconut Oil Bath Bombs
You Will Need:
Dry Ingredients:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup corn starch
Wet Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons epsom salts
- 2 tablespoons liquid coconut oil
- 5 to 6 teaspoons strong white tea
- 4 drops of essential oils
- food coloring, optional
Directions:
Put all of your dry ingredients into a big bowl and stir together with your whisk. Place all of your wet ingredients into a cup and stir until well mixed. Slowly add the liquid one teaspoon at a time to the dry ingredients, stirring in immediately with a large spoon. The mixture will foam slightly with each addition, this is normal. Add the liquid until your mixture resembles slightly damp sand. If you add too much, these will begin fizzing and continue to do so.
It should still be primarily dry, but when you squeeze a handful together, it should stick in a lump.
Grab your mould and pack the mixture into the first half of the mold. You do not need to prepare the molds in any way. Pack it as tightly as you can! Then, do the same with the second half. Make it over filled so that when you push them together there are no gaps in mixture and the metal doesn't touch straight away.
Add some extra mixture on top of the second half (if you need to) and squeeze the moulds together to create your sphere. Press firmly. If the mixture isn't packing well, place the ingredients back in the bowl and add a tiny amount of water. Be careful, though – too much water will ruin your bath bomb!
Allow to dry for a minimum of 4 hours, or overnight. Remove from the molds and store in an airtight container until ready to use.
